For this assignment, I decided I wanted to portray a peaceful and aesthetic mood. I wanted colors to be muted, light, and subtle. I also wanted a limited color palette. I wanted to portray the peace one feels when connected or surrounded by nature. Because of this, I went to the Rose Garden, a place that makes me feel peace and tranquility, and took a bunch of pictures. I went around the time the sun sets in order to get better shots of the colorful skies. Sunsets personally bring a lot of peace to me which is why I decided to go at this time to take the pictures. I believe the feeling of peace when surrounded by beautiful nature is very common amongst other individuals. Of all the pictures I took, I decided to use this one because I believe it is the one that portrays the mood I want to portray the best. It has a limited color palette, all colors are subtle and non-invasive. There is not much contrast as the colors are muted as well. I believe the lack of bright color helps give that sense of peace. I also believe this is a balanced image because it has roses poking out around the whole image. There is also a visible pattern in the leaves and steams. Some roses are a bit tilted, giving the sense of movement. Personally, when I see this picture, I think of the roses moving with the wind. I also liked how the top of the image shows the blue sky, creating a minimal contrast.
